Leixlip Driving Test Routes

Leixlip Driving Test Centre

The new Leixlip Driving Test Centre is located at the Springfield Hotel and is opening on September 1st. Anyone who has applied for the driving test can change location to Leixlip. This will likely result in getting a driving test date very soon and avoiding the long waiting times at other driving test centres.

Leixlip Driving Test Centre

The Leixlip Driving Test Centre is located at the Springfield Hotel, Leixlip Road, Leixlip, W23 W280. Although Leixlip is in Kildare, the hotel itself is inside the Dublin boundary. As a result it may appear under Kildare or Dublin in the MyRoadSafety site when applying for the driving test.

Leixlip Driving Test Routes

The Leixlip Driving Test Centre doesn’t open until September 1st and the routes will not be known until then. We gather the routes by following tests and sharing used routes with other ADIs. Any routes for sale before this date will be AI created or “mock routes”.

Why Choose Leixlip Driving Test Centre?

Many learner drivers will be reluctant to do their driving test in Leixlip as they are unfamiliar with the driving test routes. As stated earlier these will not be known before the Test Centre opens but we hope to have the routes published shortly afterwards. If your test date is mid September onwards it should give plenty of time to familiarise with the test area.

Leixlip Driving Test Centre waiting times

As the Leixlip Driving Test Centre is newly opened the waiting list is short. In comparison to Naas, Tallaght or Mulhuddart which have waiting times of up to 6 months, anyone choosing Leixlip should be invited to choose a date within a few weeks. Anyone can change their Test Location application to Leixlip on MyRoadSafety and go to the top of the queue. It is a rare opportunity to get a driving test date quickly and efficiently.

Potential Leixlip Driving Test Routes

  • While the actual test routes will not be known until the Test Centre opens on September 1st, there are some areas which look ideal for a driving test route. In no particular order I would practice:
  • Merging onto N4 at Junction 5 Eastbound
  • Leaving the N4 sliproad at J5 Westbound and turning right towards Leixlip which involves good obervation and assertivenes to merge and change lanes.
  • Turn right at Leixlip village towards Captains Hill. Remain in 2nd gear until you reach the top.
  • Castletown Estate for manoeuvres and bends.
  • Adamstown with wide variety of junctions in residential areas.
  • Lucan Village and joining N4 at Junction 4
  • Lucan Golf Club followed by a right turn at the mini roundabout
  • Hillcrest Estate in Lucan
  • The crossroads at Dodsborough Road/Woodview Heights will likely be used for a right turn in either direction as its one of the few box junctions in the area.
  • Riverdale is a likely location for the Turnabout before returning to the village.
  • A rural route past Confey GAA and back into Lucan is quite likely following increased focus on rural roads during testing.

These are only potential areas but also the most difficult so it would be no harm to familiarise with them in advance of the driving test.
